Caravans, Motorhomes, RV's and Trailer Tents

Caravans and motorhomes benefit from a choice of pitch surfaces within a sheltered natural sun trap. All hard-standing or hard-standing with grass pitches are available, most having hedges at either side to provide greater privacy and shelter for wildlife. Caravan and motorhome pitches are located in the main pitching area on individual loop roads handy for the under-floor heated shower building, laundrette and children’s play area.

All caravan and motorhome pitches have 16 amp electrical hook-ups, some additionally have a fresh water supply and may also have a waste water disposal drain.

Access

Rivendale’s site entrance is located on the right hand side of the A515 travelling north from Ashbourne towards Buxton. Caravans and even large motorhomes usually find no difficulty negotiating the turn through the site gates and up the gently-sloping main access road. However, care must be taken negotiating the narrower loop roads between the planters within the main pitching area – assistance is available from reception if requested.

Booking

The nature of the site means pitches vary in size and shape, therefore it is important to be clear about the size of your caravan or motorhome and whether a caravan awning is required at the time of booking. Motorhomes of up to 44” in length have stayed at Rivendale, however, only a limited number of pitches are available for motorhomes of this length and care must be taken when negotiating the loop roads within the main pitching area with vehicles of this size.

Motorhome wash out

A new motorhome wash-out facility has been completed permitting motorhomes of up to 44’ in length with drop-tanks to empty them on site. Please note whilst this facility is provided without charge for motorhomes staying overnight with bio-degradeable chemicals in their holding tanks, there is a charge made for the disposal of waste from holding tanks containing non-biodegradeable chemicals – so please arrive on site with empty tanks or bio-degradeable products in them. Environmentally-friendly additives are available from the shop offering considerable savings per litre of waste treated compared to the highly toxic (usually blue)formaldehyde-based products – please help us protect our environment whilst saving you money!

Security

Caravan and motorhome security compares well with most locations – there is only one access road which leads past reception - rising bollards and dragon’s teeth are used to restrict access in and out of site at night with caravans and motorhomes – see the booking page for further details.

Practicalities

BRING A TORCH! Rivendale has minimal lighting so that you can enjoy the night sky. Even the main road and surrounding villages HAVE NO STREET LIGHTING; a good torch and light-coloured or high visibility jacket ARE ESSENTIAL to avoid tripping over or being run over if walking along the lanes at night.

Rock pegs and a hammer are advisable as some areas of the park are stoney beneath the grass.

Note – Rock Pegs and torches are usually available for purchase in the shop.

Bio-degradeable chemical fluids ONLY in chemical toilets – or bring an empty cassette and purchase some from our shop. N.B. to encourage the use of environmentally-friendly chemicals this is sold at a competitive rate per litre treated compared to most non-bio products.
