At Rivendale, there is a range of easily accessible accommodation available to guests wanting to stay in the Peak District, including; fully accessible pitches for tents, caravans or motorhomes; wheel-chair friendly, luxurious lodges; and four star bed and breakfast suites.
Accessible Pitches for Tents, Caravans or Motorhomes
All-grass, all-hard standing, or combined pitches with 16 amp power connections and optional mains water and sewer connections are available to guests with limited mobility wanting to enjoy the traditional camping or caravanning experience at a disabled friendly holiday park. However, pitches do vary considerably in size, shape and suitability (depending on your personal requirements), so it’s extremely important to describe your personal requirements clearly and in detail when making your reservation to ensure that we allocate the best location possible - such as proximity to our accessible toilet and shower wet room, for example. Please bring your own RADAR key.
In addition to the accessible toilet and shower located within the main toilet and shower block in the center of the caravan and camping area, there is also an accessible toilet and shower wet room adjacent the cafe (which is also wheelchair accessible). Non residents may use the cafe and accessible toilet facilities - some guests do access the Tissington Trail about 100 metres away via the access ramp (note caution needed to cross the A515 and the ramp is steeper than a standard accessible ramp)
The roads and pitches around the camping and caravanning area are built from limestone and wear and tear may cause deterioration of the pitch surface at certain locations, bringing loose stones to the surface – so we advise caution to be taken by disabled or elderly guests. The main access road has a gradient of about 1 in 30 or better apart from the access into the camping area. Lighting around our roadways is purposefully kept to a minimum to reduce light pollution and increase the impact of the night sky that is intensified due to our naturally high and secluded location; we therefore suggest guests bring appropriate lighting, as those with impaired vision may find navigation around the park more difficult after dark.

We have taken extra care in designing the ground floor rooms to offer door widths that are suitable for wheelchair access, as well as equipping all rooms with a contemporary en-suite shower and wet-room with the necessary handles and aids for disabled use. Our bed and breakfast rooms also come with a full Breakfast created and served by our on-site professional chef via our accessible Café and Restaurant.
Accessible Wifi Café, Restaurant and Shop.
There are three level thresholds to the WiFi Café, Shop and Reception situated within our main, old stone building; staff are available to help open doors and aid you in navigating around the building if you knock and let them know. There is, however, presently one internal step between the cafe and the unisex disabled toilet within this building – staff are again available to help at your request.
Our onsite, fully-licensed Bar with connecting lounge area is situated on the first floor of the building, and does NOT currently have a lift access. However, there is available and suitable seating within our licensed Café on the ground floor where food and drink from the bar is permitted to be served. Alternatively, there is available seating outside on our patio during the summer months, overlooking the rolling hills of the Peak District. Please note that the Bar and Café have restricted opening times in low and mid-season.
An Emergency phone (999 calls only) is available in the launderette on the main campsite accessible all night. Mobile phone users will notice that reception varies considerably between networks, with O2 providing fair coverage over most of the site, however users on Vodafone struggle to receive little, if any signal during their stay.
