Open Daily From 9-5 to Everyone (Not just guests at Rivendale!) Dogs are welcome!
The Stables Cafe at Rivendale lies in the heart of the Derbyshire Peak District, and is perfectly situated halfway between Ashbourne & Buxton on the A515 commuter road. The Stables Cafe takes its name from the heritage of the original stone building – over 100 years old – in which it is housed; enticing visitors with its roaring log burning fires and traditional Limestone structure and design.
Ideal for walkers or cyclists, the Stables Cafe offers free parking to guests meaning you can enjoy some of our home made snacks and coffee right after embarking on your exploration of the Peak District.
The Tissington Trail, as well as other extremely popular walking and cycling paths, are accessible directly from our car park. We have several guided walk options available from the Stables Cafe.

A fair walk, taking roughly 3-4 hours, it'll take you through some of the Peak Districts most beautiful scenery, following the river Dove down through its spectacular gorge into the stunning Wolfscote Dale, and then heading northward into the quaint village of Biggin (there is a nice pub here, called The Waterloo, which would make for a good respite), passing through Biggin you will then return to our Cafe via the infamous Tissington Trail.
Users of the Stables Peak District Cafe can benefit from free day parking when they spend as little as £4 on food or drink - making this a fantastic option for anyone looking to go on local walks that would otherwise be paying to stay in one of the un-secure car parks elsewhere in the Peak District.
Lavazza Barista Coffee & Home Made, Local Food
Having introduced a state of the art Lavazza Barista Machine to our cafe menu, we are also now able to compete with even the best coffee shops. Whether your coffee shop preference is geared more towards Starbucks or Costa Coffee, we believe that our attention to detail – ensuring that the milk for your cappuccino is steamed just enough to create that creamy, rich and velvety taste that makes it your drink of choice – and fair prices, will win you over.
A selection of cakes or snacks is available throughout the day, much of it home made by our professional Chef using locally sourced ingredients. We regularly offer a great selection of cream tea's and other selections throughout the year.
Dogs are Welcome
Dogs are also welcome and even encouraged, so you no longer have to worry about leaving that extra family member out in the cold – we guarantee they will appreciate our log fire! We also have filled water bowls all year round.
The Stables Peak District Cafe is also a Wifi Hotspot for guests looking to get online during their coffee break or afternoon tea.
Guests visiting The Stables Peak District Cafe have access to free on-site parking for the duration of their stay, and can use this as a base for exploring the many walks of the nearby Peak District. The number of walking routes that can be accessed directly from our car park is huge, however below we have attempted to write up a few suggestions. Alternatively, a local walking map with suggested walking routes can be obtained from the Cafe or from Reception.
