Things to do at Rivendale
The Stables restaurant and Prancing Pony Inn are open at weekends during the low season and at additional times during the rest of the year (see Whats On for opening times). Bar meals are available in the bar where well-behaved dogs and children are also allowed. There are a further 26 acres of meadow and woodland and two ponds additional to the pitching area itself. Two thirds of this area is accessible to our guests who, with a little care, may see some increasingly rare plants and animals. The wild flower meadow in which some of the tents may pitch has a stunning display of lime-loving wild flowers with a profusion of common orchids, cow slips, yellow rattle, scabious and so forth and the blue butterflies, moths etc that specialise in feeding from them.
Curlews, spotted and common woodpeckers, owls, kestrels, buzzards and peregrine falcons are amongst the more popular birds to have been spotted on site. See the Wild Life Page for more information. After a long walk or cycle ride, what could be better than a long soak in a traditional wood-fired Scandinavian Hot Tub. These may be hired from reception and used on your pitch (provided it is sufficiently flat and there is space for it) or used in situ behind the club buildings (see hot tubs). |
